The team at Turbo Dynamics recently upgraded two monstrous Garrett turbochargers for airline pilot Jez Sang and his well-known Vauxhall Monaro. The Twin-Turbo Monaro is prominent fixture on the automotive scene and starred on the front cover of Total Vauxhall Magazine with a seven page feature back in 2012.
The notorious vehicle is a result of Jez’s quest for supercar performance status and the hard work and effort by the Monaro and VXR8 specialists, Monkfish Performance. The project started back in 2007 when Jez purchased a new Monaro VXR with a LS2 V8 engine as standard. He originally had a supercharger kit fitted to the car which produced a respectable 590BHP, but Jez had made up his mind – he needed to go turbocharged!
Eight years on there is still no stopping the Monaro. After its first set of serious modifications, including being converted to a turbocharged engine, the car produced an impressive 909 BHP. Still not satisfied and hungry for even more power the team at Monkfish Performance recently turned to Turbo Dynamics.
Turbo Dynamics supplied Jez and Monkfish Performance with two brand new custom GT3582R units featuring Turbo Dynamics’ reputable Motorsport Upgrade Package designed for over 1000HP! The upgrade includes ceramic ball bearings, bronze bearing carriers, staggered gap oil seals and full blueprinting to ensure tolerances are kept at an absolute minimum.
Jez has commented on this latest stage of his hunt for ultimate power, stating: “To all that know my Monaro it needs no introduction. 206mph and 201mph 4up at Vmax in Burntingthorpe speaks for itself. The time has now come for greater things so the twin turbo kit from APS has been ditched in favour of a custom build by Wortec and Monkfish Performance.
Turbo Dynamics were asked to supply the turbos and have been a pleasure to deal with, providing the necessary backup required for a project of this type. Once complete we’ll be chasing those numbers so watch this space.”
