Nissan vs Porsche – Triumph for Turbo Dynamics at the 277th meeting held at Gurston Down Hillclimb.

Hill Climbing, Motorsport, News
Throwback article to 2011....... The Nissan GT-R and Porsche 911 went head to head at Gurston Down Hillclimb on the May Bank Holiday in 2011, in a continuance of their long running battle for supremacy. When Nissan launched their new R35 GT-R in Europe in March 2009 it was aimed directly to rival the performance of the Porsche 911 Turbo. With a claimed lap time of 7:26:7 on the base model’s Dunlop tyres around the famous Nürburgring circuit, it did just that. Porsche had accused Nissan of falsifying those claims in September 2008 and for some years now, a rivalry has been brewing between Porsche and Nissan. Such has been the rivalry that many tests have been conducted. One such test was by Fifth Gear, named Battle of the Titans,…

GTD40 – A Piece of History

GTD40 – A Piece of History

Motorsport, News
Recently, we were sent a pair of turbos that needed servicing as part of an engine rebuild of a bespoke, twin turbo 4.6 V8 Rover engine, an engine that the Turbo Dynamics MD, Peter Marsh, had a lot of history with. Back in 1995, the late Tony Marsh, father of our MD Peter, built a GT40 replica, the GTD40 Mk2 Coupe, a car that has been described as “a thoroughbred in every sense”. The engine for this stunning car is a 4550cc Rover V8 with a flat plane crankshaft which was forced fed by a pair of bespoke Turbo Dynamics turbochargers and developed by Simon and Nick Law of Rovercraft in Kent. It gave it an impressive power output of 625bhp and 595 Lb-Ft of torque with plans to further…

Flatirons Tuning Discuss LM450-LR60 Twin Scroll Hybrid

Motorsport, News
Flatirons Tuning Discuss the LM450-LR60 Twin Scroll Hybrid Turbo. "It Gave Us Everything We Wanted!" Onwards and upwards for 2018 Pikes Peak Hill Climb. In Flatirons Tunings latest video they discuss the performance of the LM450-LR60 Twin Scroll Hybrid Turbocharger. "It gave us everything we ever wanted" they describe in their video. The LM450-L60 turbo is the 2.5-litre version which produces 450bhp and uses the larger internal volute which does not become overwhelmed by the larger engines exhaust gas flow. This turbo uses a Turbo Dynamics designed and cast 0.60 A/R compressor cover and offers instant throttle response and no lag making a superb street turbo. In 2017 they came across Turbo Dynamics and entered Pikes Peak Hill Climb using one of our turbochargers which, in their own words, gave the "power we've always wanted". They will continue to use this twin entry…

Will Hall Took His First British Hillclimb Run In 2 Years

Hill Climbing, Motorsport
Will Hall took his first British Hillclimb Championship run-off win in two years at Harewood on May 7th. Driving the Force AER WH, Will also took the fastest time of day with a 50.48s run. After the second round at Harewood, where the colder temperatures and a course marker picked up on his run meant an eight-place finish, Will finds himself third overall in the Championship. Will, son of midlands Hillclimb legend Mike Hall, started in hillclimbing with a Westfield Vauxhall in the late 1990s where he rapidly acquired the nickname ‘Will-he, won’t-he’ (make it to the top of the hill) due to his wild, sideways driving style. Hill can be seen in this video below: What Did Turbo Dynamics Rebuild? Strapped to the car is a bespoke Turbo Dynamics…
